Artist Molly Hashimoto lives in the Pacific Northwest where she is close to mountains, forests, and waterways, and the many kinds of birds that live there. She explores the wild areas, encountering rare and commonplace species alike. Sketchbook and camera in hand, she studies birds in their natural habitats. Whether a woodpecker perched on a tree looking for its next meal or a tiny hummingbird caught in a moment of stillness, the birds portrayed by Hashimoto reflect her profound relationship with nature.
In this coloring book you’ll find twenty-two unpainted block prints. Hashimoto’s finished versions are reproduced on the inside front and back covers of this book. She creates rich, lush hues by hand-tinting with watercolor. You may choose to follow her natural color schemes, or create an alternate world of abstract colors. The last page of the book is blank so you can create a bird picture of your own, perhaps drawing a species you admire that lives near your home.
